SoftBank’s logo is based on the flag of a Japanese shipping company founded in 1865.
The company was the Kaientai, founded in 1865 by Sakamoto Ryōma, the samurai Masayoshi Son has called the starting point of his life. Son started SoftBank in 1981 to distribute PC software, which Japanese calls “soft”, so its name means a bank of software. His plan for it runs 300 years.
