Snickers is named after a horse.
The Mars family kept a favorite horse called Snickers, and in 1930, when their new bar of chocolate, nougat, caramel and peanuts was ready, they gave it the horse’s name. Mars has never said more than that. Its own published history records the launch and never mentions the animal at all.
