Reese’s was built by a former Hershey man using Hershey’s chocolate.
Harry Burnett Reese worked on Hershey’s dairy farm and in its factory, then left in 1923 to make his own candies — including the 1928 peanut butter cup — coated in Hershey chocolate. After his death, Hershey bought the company in 1963 for $23.5 million in stock.
