Oreo is a copy that outsold the original.
The company later called Sunshine Biscuits launched Hydrox in 1908 — a chocolate sandwich cookie. Nabisco copied it four years later as Oreo. Hydrox had a name that sounded like a cleaning product. Oreo did not. The imitator grew so dominant that most people now assume Hydrox was the knockoff.
