MySpace lost 12 years of its users’ music, and almost nobody noticed.
In March 2019 word spread that MySpace had lost the music users uploaded in the 12 years before 2015, over 50 million songs, in a server migration with apparently no backup. It had told some users months earlier. The Internet Archive rescued 490,000 of the songs, gathered by an academic study from 2008 to 2010, as the MySpace Dragon Hoard.
