Jelly Belly got famous because Reagan loved it.
Reagan had eaten Goelitz jelly beans since 1966 to quit smoking. In 1976 the company slipped its Jelly Belly into his shipments. For his 1981 inauguration, it shipped 3.5 tons of red, white, and blue, inventing a blueberry bean to complete the flag.
