Golden Goose took its name from Aesop’s fable of the goose that laid golden eggs.
Alessandro Gallo and Francesca Rinaldo, designers in their early twenties, chose it in 2000 for clothes they made in a garage in Marghera, Venice’s industrial port. Their distressed sneakers followed in 2007. Since 2013 control of the company has been sold five times, each time for more, from a €40 million deal to about €2.5 billion in 2025.
