Five Guys has meant two different sets of five guys.
In 1986, Jerry Murrell’s sons skipped college to open a burger stand in Arlington, Virginia. The original five were Jerry and his four boys. When a fifth son arrived, Jerry stepped out, and the name came to mean the brothers.
