Fiat built the Soviets a car factory, in a town renamed for an Italian Communist.
In 1966 Fiat agreed to build the Soviets a car plant in Stavropol, renamed Tolyatti in 1964 after the Italian Communist Palmiro Togliatti, who had helped start the talks.
