Eggo waffles were originally called Froffles.
The Dorsa brothers introduced frozen waffles in San Jose in 1953 as “Froffles,” from frozen and waffles. In 1955 they put their family’s existing brand on the waffles, Eggo, the name they had given their egg-based mayonnaise in 1932.
