Dolce & Gabbana’s name was an accountant’s fix for two separate invoices.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, a couple working freelance in Milan from 1983, sent two invoices even when they worked for the same client. Their accountant asked why they did not send one, with both names at the top. Four decades later that name belonged to a house that took €1.86 billion in the year to March 2026.
