Bosch was not allowed to call itself Bosch in America for 65 years.
In May 1918 the United States seized Robert Bosch’s American company and sold it, and the buyers traded as American Bosch. A court barred him from using his own name on products sold there. Bosch goods in the U.S. had to read Robert Bosch or Bosch Germany until 1983, 65 years on, when United Technologies gave up its claim.
