Satoshi Nakamoto posted the paper in 2008 and stopped posting in December 2010, and in 2011 told one developer he had “moved on to other things.” Newsweek named a model-train collector, a London judge found that the man who claimed the title had forged his proof, and some 1.1 million coins believed to be Nakamoto’s have not moved since 2010. In October 2026 all the bitcoins in existence were worth $1.67 trillion.
