Giuliana Benetton knitted brightly colored sweaters at home near Treviso, Italy, and her brother Luciano saw their potential. To buy their first knitting machine in 1955, the siblings sold Luciano’s accordion and a brother’s bicycle. The family’s holding company, Edizione, is now worth more than €14 billion.
