WhatsApp’s $19 billion sale was signed on the door of its founder’s old food-stamp office.
In February 2014 Jan Koum and Brian Acton did not sign WhatsApp’s sale to Facebook at their headquarters. They drove two blocks to 101 Moffett Boulevard in Mountain View, the abandoned former social services office where Koum, who had arrived from Ukraine at 16, once queued for food stamps. Koum signed the papers on its main door.
