Vivienne Westwood’s storefront was once named, in one word, SEX.
The pink padded letters stood four feet tall, fixed above the door. From 1974 to 1976, the future Dame and Malcolm McLaren ran a King’s Road boutique selling rubber, PVC, bondage gear, and confrontational tees. The band McLaren began managing in 1975 to promote the shop was named for it — the Sex Pistols.
