Andrew Kortina and Iqram Magdon-Ismail wanted to leave a 2009 jazz show with the recording, and named the idea from vendere, Latin for to sell, plus mo for mobile. On a weekend set aside to build the music store, Magdon-Ismail left his wallet in Philadelphia and paid Kortina back with a check so annoying to deposit that Kortina never cashed it.
