Timex made Polaroid’s instant cameras, more than 40 million of them.
In 1948 Edwin Land went looking for someone to build his camera and found the watchmaker then called United States Time. From 1950 it made every Polaroid camera in the world, in plants such as Little Rock, Arkansas, and through the 1970s it built more than 40 million. When Polaroid ended the contract in 1975, Timex laid off 2,000 workers.
