Roblox grew out of a 1989 physics simulator built to teach, not to play.
In 1989, Dave Baszucki’s Interactive Physics let students model experiments, but kids used it to crash cars and build worlds. That led him and Erik Cassel to build DynaBlocks in 2003, renamed Roblox. Its players build the games, and in 2023 Roblox paid those creators more than $740 million.
