Pringles were engineered to solve problems regular chips had.
In the late 1950s, P&G designed a chip that would stack, ship unbroken, and stay fresh in a tube, pressing dried potato dough into a uniform saddle. It was an engineered object, not a fried slice. In 2012 the soap maker sold it to Kellogg for $2.695 billion.
