Papa John’s founder paid $250,000 for the Camaro he sold to start it.
In 1983 John Schnatter sold his 1971 Camaro Z28 for $2,800 to keep his father’s tavern afloat, and spent the rest on used pizza equipment for its broom closet. In 2009 he found the car in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Its owner, Jeff Robinson, had bought it five years earlier for $4,000.
