Netscape went public at 16 months old, having never turned a profit.
In August 1995 it priced at $28 a share, hit $75 by lunch, and closed at $58.25, worth about $2.9 billion in a single afternoon. The browser wars and the entire dot-com boom started here. Its co-founder, Marc Andreessen, is also the man widely credited with making the web hyperlink blue.
