Mars was built by a father and son who could barely stand each other.
In the early 1930s Frank Mars cut his son Forrest out of the business. Forrest left with $50,000 and the foreign rights to one bar, sailed to Europe, and built a rival candy empire before the bruised family reunited. The Mars heirs are now worth an estimated $129 billion.
