Liquid Paper was invented by a secretary.
Bette Nesmith Graham, a single mother and bank secretary in Dallas, used white tempera paint to cover her typing mistakes. She refined the formula in her kitchen and built a company by hand. In 1979 she sold it to Gillette for $47.5 million.
