Knorr sold a soup shaped like a sausage for 129 years.
The Erbswurst, or pea sausage, was a paper roll of pressed pea-soup tablets, invented by a Berlin cook in 1867 and bought by the Prussian army for 35,000 thalers as an iron ration for the war with France. Knorr took over making it in 1889 and made it in Heilbronn for 129 years, until 31 December 2018, when too few people still bought it.
