KitchenAid was throwing home parties to sell mixers two decades before Tupperware.
Hardware stores wouldn’t stock the C-10, so Hobart sent a mostly female sales force door to door with it. In the 1920s and 1930s the mixers were also sold at KitchenAid parties, where a saleswoman cooked a meal for the guests and then took their orders. The first Tupperware parties were promoted in 1948.
