Keurig was invented by someone who sold out before it succeeded.
John Sylvan hated stale office coffee and developed the K-Cup single-serve pod in the early 1990s. Pushed out in 1997 after clashing with investors, he sold his entire stake for about $50,000, before the pod caught on. In 2016 the company sold for about $13.9 billion.
