GameStop owned one of America’s biggest magazines, and shut it down in 2024.
Game Informer began in 1991 as the newsletter of FuncoLand, a chain GameStop bought in 2000. A subscription came free with GameStop’s loyalty program, and by 2011 about 8 million copies made it the third-largest magazine in the country. On August 2, 2024, after 33 years, GameStop closed it and took its website down.
