FUBU was paid for with a $100,000 mortgage on a house worth $75,000.
Daymond John started FUBU in 1992 with hats he sewed in Hollis, Queens. To fill orders he could not pay for, he and his mother took the loan on their house. Six friends moved in at $75 a week, and the furniture was burned in the backyard to make room for sewing machines. FUBU has since sold more than $6 billion of clothes.
