In June 2018 Donald Trump broke ground on it in Mount Pleasant and called it “the eighth wonder of the world”. The state offered about $3 billion in subsidies. By 2021 the deal had shrunk to $672 million and 1,454 jobs, and the building meant to make LCD screens had been permitted as storage.
