Fisher Space Pen was not paid for by NASA.
The famous version says NASA spent millions on a pen for zero gravity while the Soviets just used a pencil. Neither part is true. Paul Fisher spent about $1 million of his own money developing it privately, and filed its patent in 1965. NASA bought it. The Soviets eventually bought it too.
