Ferrari’s prancing horse is the most famous badge in motorsport.
Enzo did not design it. It belonged to Francesco Baracca, Italy’s top fighter ace of World War I, who painted a black stallion on his Nieuport before he was shot down in 1918. Years later the dead pilot’s mother told Enzo to put the horse on his cars for luck.
