Bubble Wrap was originally meant to be wallpaper.
In 1957, Sealed Air’s founders Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes tried to make textured wallpaper by sealing two shower curtains together. Almost nobody wanted it on their walls. Then a marketer pitched it to IBM as padding for shipping its new computers.
