Activision Blizzard sold for $68.7 billion, built on a wreck bought for $440,000.
In 1991 Activision, by then called Mediagenic, owed $30 million against $2 million in assets. Bobby Kotick, Steve Wynn and two partners put in $440,000 for a third of it, and Kotick moved it to Los Angeles with 8 of its 150 employees. In October 2023 Microsoft completed its purchase of Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in cash.
